Historic Hudson Studios

Historic Hudson Studios, a premier destination for photo and video production rentals since 2008, has become a creative force in Los Angeles.

Originally a single rental space, the studio has grown into a 10,000-square-foot venue. A grand relaunch in October 2022 marked the beginning of a new chapter. To support the expansion, I led the studio’s rebranding, content strategy, and digital marketing efforts.

Owner Renee Anjanette —an accomplished food and product photographer—had previously relied on personal connections to attract bookings. When those leads slowed down, she recognized the need for a stronger marketing foundation. That’s when I stepped in to craft a strategic plan rooted in both design and data.

After a full review of the brand and the 2022 website by Willhouse Creative , a central goal became clear: improve visibility and drive real marketing and SEO results.

The Space

The building where HHS is located was built in 1948 and is a special industrial gem from the early studio days. It’s a unique and creative place in Los Angeles that has been used for theaters, dance companies, and film production offices.

Over time, this venue has played host to theaters, dance troupes, and film production hubs. Within these very walls, numerous painters and artists have plied their craft, including the renowned celebrity photographer, Herb Ritts. It was within his second-floor studio that he captured iconic images of luminaries like David Bowie, Madonna, and Jack Nicholson. I had the esteemed privilege of making it my foremost mission to champion and promote this extraordinary space.

Marketing and SEO
Strategy and Results

We began with a website overhaul, refining its UX and structure while optimizing for key search terms. I rewrote content to better reflect the studio’s strengths and used SEO tools to align every detail with Google’s best practices.

Next, I launched and managed over 70 local listings and secured placements on platforms like Peerspace, Giggster, Tag Venue, and Splacer—expanding the studio’s visibility to new audiences.

I also developed a full brand guide, giving the team a foundation for consistent messaging and design. Meanwhile, I handled off-page SEO and paid strategy: auditing the Google Business profile, setting up Google Analytics, and launching segmented Google Ads campaigns.

Those campaigns were built to target three high-value segments: e-commerce shoots, production rentals, and small event bookings. Together, they delivered clear and measurable marketing and SEO results.

Within one year, monthly bookings rose from 7 to 21 days a month in the first year. The increase allowed the studio to raise its rates and boost profits nearly tenfold.

Today, Historic Hudson Studios is nearly fully booked months in advance. The combination of creative direction, digital visibility, and search strategy made that success possible.
