Historic Hudson Studios

Historic Hudson Studios, renowned as a premier destination for photo and video production rentals since 2008, has solidified its position as a leading creative force.

Starting as a single rental space and expanding into a versatile 10,000 square ft. venue, marked by a grand inauguration event in October 2022, the company underwent an impressive transformation journey. This evolution involved intensive efforts in marketing and graphic design. Renee Anjanette, the visionary owner of the company and an exceptional photographer specializing in food and product photography, initially relied on personal connections to attract projects to the studio. However, a decline in bookings led her to explore new avenues. Recognizing the need for marketing and branding expertise to strengthen existing relationships and establish new client connections, Renee entrusted me with the task of creating and implementing innovative marketing strategies. Through a thorough analysis of the company’s history, brand, and website developed by Willhouse Creative in 2022, a need for enhanced brand visibility emerged.

The Space

The building where HHS is located was built in 1948 and is a special industrial gem from the early studio days. It’s a unique and creative place in Los Angeles that has been used for theaters, dance companies, and film production offices.

Over time, this venue has played host to theaters, dance troupes, and film production hubs. Within these very walls, numerous painters and artists have plied their craft, including the renowned celebrity photographer, Herb Ritts. It was within his second-floor studio that he captured iconic images of luminaries like David Bowie, Madonna, and Jack Nicholson. I had the esteemed privilege of making it my foremost mission to champion and promote this extraordinary space.

The website underwent a comprehensive redesign, incorporating On-Page SEO techniques, carefully selected keywords, and an improved UX/UI design. Engaging and informative content was crafted to reinforce credibility and provide a deep understanding of the company’s essence, with a focus on user experience.

Simultaneously, Historic Hudson Studios secured listings on 70 local general listing platforms, showcasing its unique rental spaces on external websites such as Giggster, Peerspace, Splacer, Space for Arts, and Tag Venue.

A comprehensive Brand Guide was meticulously created, defining the company’s market positioning and future direction. This guide served as a foundation for consistent branded materials.

Thorough keyword research led to the launch of targeted search ad campaigns, tailored to three distinct segments: photo/video production, event spaces, and e-commerce photography. These campaigns perfectly complemented Historic Hudson Studios’ compact, photo-ready studios.

Since the implementation of these integrated marketing and design initiatives, the company experienced a remarkable increase in bookings, elevating the average from 7 days per month to a robust average of 18 days. This significant growth enabled Historic Hudson Studios to raise its rates and achieve nearly tenfold profit growth since January 2023.

As this collaborative journey continues, Historic Hudson Studios is on the cusp of full occupancy through January 2024, a testament to the success of the strategies implemented.
